    Product Details

The lug butterfly valve, which has lugs that allow it to be bolted onto the flanges and provide a secure connection, is appropriate for applications where the valve must be installed between two flanges. On the other hand, the wafer butterfly valve, which has a wafer that allows it to be sandwiched between the pipes and provide a tight seal, is appropriate for applications where the valve must be installed between two pipes.

Wafer-type butterfly valves typically come with the lowest price tag among the various connection methods. Lug-type valves are next in line, while flange-type valves are the most costly, with price generally correlating to overall weight. Key Features
    • 🛡 Explosion-proof valve stem: Designed to prevent the valve stem from being ejected under pressure.
    • Bidirectional: Capable of operating effectively in both flow directions.
    • 🔥 Fire Safety Design: Carefully designed to maintain integrity and performance even in the event of a fire.
    • Low-friction valve seat: The valve seat is designed to minimize friction, resulting in smoother operation.
    Standard Test
    Valve Body Test

This test is conducted after the valve assembly is completed and the valve disc is in the half-open position. The test pressure is 1.5 times the working pressure, and water is used. It is also known as the valve body hydrostatic test.

    Seat Ring Test

This test is conducted with water at 1.1 times the working pressure.

    Functional / Operational Testing

During the final inspection, each valve and its actuator (flow control lever/gear/pneumatic actuator) will undergo a comprehensive operational test (opening/closing). This test is conducted under no-pressure and ambient temperature conditions to ensure proper functioning of the valve/actuator components (including solenoid valves, limit switches, and accessories such as air filter regulators).

    Special Testing

Additional testing can be performed according to the customer's specific instructions.

    Frequently Asked Questions
Q What is the difference between a lug butterfly valve and a wafer butterfly valve?
A lug butterfly valve features threaded inserts (lugs) that allow it to be bolted directly onto pipe flanges on both sides, providing a secure end-of-line connection. A wafer butterfly valve is designed to be sandwiched between two pipe flanges using through-bolts, creating a tight seal. Lug-type valves are generally more expensive than wafer-type due to their additional hardware and weight.
Q What materials are used in the construction of this lug butterfly valve?
The valve body and key components such as the ball and stem are made from SS316 or SS304 stainless steel for excellent corrosion resistance. The seat, stem gasket, and packing use PTFE for low-friction, chemical-resistant sealing. Other hardware components including hex nuts, gaskets, gland, spring washer, and nut are made from SS304, while the handle is made from SS201 stainless steel.
Q What pressure testing standards does this valve comply with?
Each valve undergoes a rigorous three-stage testing process: a valve body hydrostatic test at 1.5 times the working pressure (with the disc in the half-open position), a seat ring test at 1.1 times the working pressure using water, and a full functional/operational test covering opening and closing cycles under ambient, no-pressure conditions. Additional special testing can also be arranged per customer requirements.
Q What size range is available for this lug butterfly valve?
This lug butterfly valve is available in a wide range of sizes from DN50 (2″) up to DN600 (24″), covering both standard metric (DN) and imperial (inch) sizing. Dimensional data is provided for PN10, PN16, and 150LB flange standards across all available sizes.
Q Is this butterfly valve suitable for fire-hazard or high-risk environments?
Yes. This valve incorporates a dedicated Fire Safety Design that ensures it maintains structural integrity and operational performance even in the event of a fire. Additionally, the explosion-proof valve stem design prevents the stem from being ejected under pressure, making it suitable for demanding industrial and safety-critical environments.
Q Can this valve be operated with different types of actuators?
Yes. This lug butterfly valve is compatible with multiple actuator types, including manual flow control levers, worm gear operators, and pneumatic actuators. Each valve and its actuator combination undergoes a comprehensive operational test during final inspection to verify correct performance of all components, including solenoid valves, limit switches, and air filter regulators.
